Hello, and welcome to the IRC handbook! This guide covers some of the basics of using IRC, as well as some of the nitty gritty advanced features! It was designed for both regular IRC users and those who have channel operator permissions.

If you are new to IRC, please read the Getting started page for an introduction of the basics on how to use IRC, and how to get yourself set up and settled in! If you're done that, you may want to peruse the other pages in the handbook below.

Please note that this guide was written specifically for the freenode network; there are many different IRC networks out there, and as there is no "standard", each network is different in their own way. Some of the things in this handbook may be transferrable to other networks, but we cannot make any guarantee of this.

If you are reading this on K6ka's Wiki, please note that IRC and freenode are entirely separate entities from MediaWiki and ShoutWiki. Things that happen on freenode do not necessarily affect ShoutWiki, and vice versa.

Lastly, if you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to leave them on the talk page.
